I got an eco-worthy portable 120w solar panel. It all works fine when connected. It's mainly for keeping the battery topped up when the Winter cover is off, and also if we find ourselves on an overnight stop without EHU. Since it is portable and can't stay outside in rain, I have it inside the front window, which I know is less efficient, but so be it. All good so far. However .... the crocodile clips won't fit on the battery when the battery door is closed. There are plastic caps on the battery connectors, so getting a connection is difficult, and closing the door afterwards impossible. The plastic caps have wiring coming from them so can't be removed. Any ideas ? Can I maybe get at the battery connection from inside the van (Xplore 304) ?
We use 2 portable suitcase panels wired in parallel.
I spliced into the main battery cables with a length of cable that reaches just outside the battery box then simple plug together connectors to hook up the panels.
When not in use the cable tucks away beside the battery.
Thanks Dave / Cyn, I'm doing much the same as you did, using a quality cigarette lighter (with fuse) connected to the battery and left in the battery compartment, then adding the other half of the cigarette lighter to the solar panel instead of the crocodile clips.
