I just came back from my first trip out this season, and regretted not to put up the windbreak soon after I arrived on site.
It is a 4 panels 5 poles Blue Diamond windbreak with a laurel leaf design that I really like.
However, the thought of putting it up and the need to use 6 guys (2 at each end and 2 in the middle pole) did not appeal as I was not certain if I would sit outside much without a functioning awning on my van. WRONG.
I have never managed to bash the poles of my Blue Diamond windbreak far enough into the ground without the need to use additional guys for stability.
I am looking at getting a 3-panel Jormax and would like to ask how far one has to bash the poles into the ground please.
And is it truly that stable without the need for additional guys once the poles are driven into the ground?
Thanks for your help in advance.

You might like Isabella wind screens as an alternative. We use ours ( a crystal) without guys.
They have short metal pegs that are easy to push in and the poles slide on to them.

That's the one, thank you!
I can get the extra anchor plates and use a power drill to drive Peggy Pegs that I already have into the ground to secure them.

Found some Isabella windscreens with a set of their Stablio anchor plates included!

I have a 4 panel Yormax and have used it a couple of times since I bought it second-hand. The poles are almost solid aluminium so you car really knock them into the ground and there is nothing flimsy about it to snap off.
Whether I would leave it up in a howling gale? no, but it should cope with most situations.

I believe the issue I have is that I have difficulties in hammering the tall poles into the ground sufficiently not to require additional guys.
Being only 5'2 and rather feeble, I can't raise my arms high enough and apply sufficient force to the poles.
Hence the Isabella windscreen looks more doable for me personally, as the Stablio system has shorter spikes, and the taller poles slot onto them.

I know in some instances when the ground is rock hard people use a metal spike to make a pilot hole first, then they only need the final knock in to finish the job off. They do this with the Isabella spikes too so maybe an idea?

We have the Jormax system and think it is a lot better than the Isabella system for us with small dogs. We have had the Jormax Vision up in howling gales with no issue. 12 years later it still looks like brand new. If we come across really hard ground I use the drill and a masonry bit to drill a pilot hole.
