Hi everyone

Calling all gas bottle experts...

I received a gas powered fire/charcoal starter as a gift: https://lks.co.za/product/gas-lighter-turbo/

It has what appears to be a 5/8" screw adaptor. The user manual clearly states it should not be used with a regulator, it should be connected directly to the gas cylinder.

I have a 27mm clip-on propane gas bottle, so I'm going to need some kind of adapter. I've done a few searched and found adapters, but I'm not sure if they would work. Here is an example: https://www.dnautogasparts.co.uk/collections/clip-on-bottle-adapters/products/copy........

Am I looking at the right thing?

Many thanks

We have one of those, just cut the South African connector off, and put a uk propane regulator on, they work very well.

Hi EsssBeee

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that. Just out of curiosity, what could be the reason the manufacturer states that it should not be used with a regulator? I don't know much about gas regulators (other than they control the pressure). In my mind it shouldn't make a difference whether the device is hooked up to a regulator or directly to the gas cylinder.

Ta

in South Africa the bottle and regulator system is very different to ours, in SA it would wind straight into the little dumpy bottles.

South African bottles are High pressure whereas Cadac equipment in the UK are LP with regulator. I am not sure about other makes of gas but when I lived there I only used Cadac and their bottles were refillable and were filled by the dealer while you waited.
