Just received the following e..

Just to keep you up to date – we will by the end of the month have stock of 4T fuel in much more handy 1 litre bottles – we will encourage the existing stocking dealers to carry this size ( hopefully!!) and  equally hope that the other dealers will be more inclined to start to carry the 1 litre size !!

Hope of interest to you and your colleagues.

Very good. But they need to increase the number of stockists to make it more widely available. I'm still too far away from a stockist to make it a viable proposition.

Tony's contacting Millets and Yeomans to try and get them interested in stocking it.

I suggest that you contact him directly and tell him your local camping supplier, the sort that sell Coleman Fuel, and ask him to approach them to.

I had a similar problem but I persauded my stockist to get some in on the promise I would buy the 3 x 5 litre bottles minimum order if he did not sell them.

He sold out within a week!

I've been using a peak 1 stove on and off for over 18 years (the same one!) and I cannot praise them enough.  The big drawback (with mine at least) was the requirement to use Coleman fuel.  I was really pleased to find this thread.  After a little background reading and a few 'phone calls a very nice bloke called Peter at:

Ramage D I Y Equipment Hire
43 Liverpool Rd North
Burscough Lancashire L40 0SA

Tel: 01704 892384

agreed to get some Aspen 4T in stock.  He now has both 5L and 1L sizes.

I'm not, in any way, associated with Ramage DIY but thought it would be a courtsey to both Peter, and the forum members to let everyone know there is a stockist in the NW.  They are about 15 mins (if that) from Junction 27 of the M6.

Follow the signs for Martin Mere (the wetlands bird sanctuary where they will be filming Autumn Watch again this year).  As you turn left off the main Southport road, go to the end of the road, right at the lights and Ramage DIY is about 250 yards down the road, on your left, just before the Tesco store.

Give Peter a ring to check stock before popping in.

Aspen 4T stores really well (unlike petrol) so get some in now ready for your travels next year!

Thanks to the individuals who made the original post on this subject.

BUMP

My apologies to all for bumping this thread, but ...

I've been searching for Coleman fuel or similar to use in my Svea 123 petrol fueled stove for almost 2 years now. Here in Italy, liquid fueled stoves and lanterns are quite rare and finding a fuel other than unleaded petrol was almost impossible.
When I first read the posts here regarding Aspen 4T I was very interested as it seemed to be a perfect alternative.
Well, after much searching I finally tracked down a seller who stocked Aspen 4T .. and they are only a 15 minute drive away.
Today I bought a 5 Lt. container of the fuel and straight away tried it in my Svea 123 and Optimus 80 stoves.

It worked a treat ! No nasty smell, burns a nice blue flame. I'm very happy.

So, I'd like to suggest to anyone who uses a petrol burning stove or lantern (think Coleman dual fuel) to seriously consider Aspen 4T.
It isn't cheap, but then neither is Coleman fuel (if I could get it ) but it works, is clean and a far healthier alternative to burning unleaded.

Aspen 4T

Thanks

I may be missing something here but my reason for having a coleman dual fuel was it CAN be run on petrol.

Coleman fuel is expensive, 4T is even more expensive. Unleaded, while not exactly cheap, is a heck of a lot cheaper than specialist fuels.

Please enlighten me......

Nothing to enlighten you to. Everything you say is true. However I wasn't completely comfortable using unleaded in my stove, and my suggestion is, if anyone else has worries /issues with unleaded, then Aspen 4T is a viable alternative.
I can't get Coleman fuel here in Italy, if I could I'd use it.

While the Aspen is more expensive than unleaded, it's still cheaper than coleman fuel.

don't give off the same chemicals as petrol when burnt so better for the environment and not sure as I've not used either but think they burn with a better bluer flame.

Is it possible to use an unleaded/Aspen 4T mix?

Maybe the best of both worlds?

I can't see why you'd want to do that.

Coleman fuel and Aspen 4T are both naphtha (white gas) and this is the best fuel for the stove.  But the main reason for not using u/l petrol is that the additives used to make it better for cars include some really nasty chemicals - you don't want to spill it on yourself or inhale the fumes (which can be hard to avoid given it's volatility).

If you are happy to use petrol to mix then you may as well just use petrol on it's own.
