Personally I wouldn't even consider buying walking boots without trying them on first. If you go to a good outdoor shop they'll let you wear them for a couple of weeks indoors and then return them if they aren't right.

Good point! I am off to the MerryHell (Local shopping mecca) to try some on.
But do you find you need a bigger size than say your usual work shoe or trainers??

My walking boots cost £1.75 from a charity shop, new too..only worn once and the owner keeled over? I also have some new trainers from TK Maxx (my second home as well), cost £30, very comfortable.
