I am desparately trying to remember who told me, but was told to dip finger in whiskey and run down front of leg and arms apparently they hate it - have n't had the chance to try it yet, but am going up to Elgin May/June so will definately try it then

- or purely for medicinal purposes will have to drink copious amounts, just to be sure!!

I doubt very much it was a Scot who told you that!  They drink the stuff, not waste it.  Yes, Maybe the answer is to have a wee dram before going out and the midges won't bite lol.
