If its working ok now dont fiddle with it anymore !
I have only ever had the one old lamp th at i stripped and changed most of the seals about 12 years ago
I turn it on slowly so that it gets to its brightest , once it starts to go dim i turn it back a touch . If i turned the volume nob fully it would flare right out yellow flame through the top . I dont know if this is normal or not but it works fine. I had to tighten the nurled packing spindle behind the actual volume nob to make it tighter so that it would set in place and since then ive had no problems with it .
