I bought a metre of wipe clean plastic tableclothe from Dunelm mill, cost less than a fiver, its enough to cover the table and put under the stove and grill to catch splatters..... job done !
So I should think Debsmill and quite right too but what's all this making her eat with a plastic spoon out of a plastic bowl......stainless steel spoon and china bowl at least surely and a proper glass for her juice of course!
If you have a slatted table, a cloth stops all those annoying drips and dirt which are a pain to get rid of. Made my own too and put bias binding on the edges and rounded the corners to make it smarter... I'm not tent proud .

Another fan here of the plastic table cloth - not for any aesthetic purposes ... but to stop the ketchup dripping down between the slats of our roll-up table. So much easier to keep clean!
Heavy duty ones are the best especially if you're likely to be using it outside as it doesn;t blow away in the wind.
A table cloth lends a certain amount of style methinks: just wish I'd taken the towels off the poles before I took the picture......
Towels? Hadn't noticed them until you kindly pointed them out
I have just bought a Kampa adjustable table for about £27 from a major camping/caravan chain. It sits at a low level or can be adjusted by around 6"-8" in height. All four legs are independently adjustable and it does not have the cross struts underneath that prevent you from sitting with your legs under the table.
It has a solid wipe clean top (not sure if it is weatherproof) and measures (from memory) around 1000mm x 700mm. Legs fold up when stored and the whole thing is only about 50mm deep.
It suits us; cheap and cheerful but does what it says on the tin.. er.. box.
We sat 4 around it, 2 adults, 1 12-yr old and an 8-yr old with enough room for the Lab to squeeze into a corner for scraps!
If you don't have much money to spend and DO have kids, the folding picnic tables with built in seats are fine. Ours lasted about 10 years.
Now there's just 2 of us we have a slatted aluminium table and I use a plastic tablecloth too. Trying to get smelly stuff out from between the slats - YUK! My cloth is hideous (decorated with giant purple plums and unidentifiable things in green, orange and red) it came from Lidl's about 4 years ago - the whole family laugh at it but it comes out at home too when the younger grandchildren come round and want to do messy craft activities. It protects my expensive wooden table and they have a great time with paint, glitter and glue.

Great idea of the hanging poles to put towels on to dry where do you get the poles?
We use a lafuma oval table with adjustable legs which has lasted us years, and a tablecloth of course.
The poles are broom handles with holes drilled at each end with some cord threaded through and knotted. The cord is clipped to the frame using spare clips that came with the tent. I intend to varnish the poles for next year.
The idea isn't original, I got it from someone on here.
