Hi, can anyone tell me if this can have the end changed for a normal plug? Sorry lol I' don't do electrics and my OH is away but as I'm off to Ikea later I quite fancy just rigging up a light.
When I say I don't do electrics, I'm fine with wiring up stuff but know nothing about correct cables etc. I always defer to the superior knowledge of my significant other on that one.

Meant to say - I can check if they have the G9 things when I'm there.

Christine, yes you can indeed put a normal plug on that ikea light.
Try an electrical wholesalers for your G9 bulbs, somewhere like city electrical factors or newey & ayre (spelt wrong, sorry), they are both nation wide, you will find many more local ones, if they don't have one they should be able to point you in the direction of a lighting wholesalers.
Or try maplins (I hate that place but they do have a good stock, just really poor staff!!!)
Do BHS (British Home Stores) still exist? They used to have a big lighting dept.

Thanks nutgone, I don't need a G9 , was looking for the thread starter. lol
Given I didn't know the answer when I went out, I didn't bother. TBH my significant other probably has one somewhere, or maybe two. Coffee on special today. 2 packs for £1.75 so I bought 20, lol that's how much I usually get as saves me a trip just for coffee. Got a free coolbag for spending over £15 so not a bad day all round. Colobag good size for keeping food in away from ants.
Couldn't resist the £1.50 pan set I'm going to put this away for spares, it seemed very popular most people saying they had vans or were buying for teenagers going off to uni.
Well that's my shopping done. Just got to shrink wrap and freeze the mature Scottish steaks, and one or two other delicacies i.e a curry.

edit - oh and pack and clean the house.

Damn, knew I should've made the effort & gone to Ikea, that's some cheap coffee you got there.
I've spent the day replacing the hoses on my car (in 30-odd degree heat!), day off tomorrow, food shop monday, off wednesday. Still hopelessly unprepared, but never mind, sure I'll survive.

Well it was 14c here and heavy rain.. we'll leave any mention of weather at that!

I've got the 2 men in my life arriving home late tomorrow night complete with case loads of dirty washing, it's raining constantly, I only have a washer/dryer and I only have one day to do the lot. Hopelessly unprepared doesn't even come near.

You'll be fine. You'll just have to spend the first couple of days doing hand washing as well as cooking meals & keeping everyone entertained! It'll be just like home
Except hopefully you'll have plenty of sunshine to dry all those clothes in!!!

I'm sure your men know how to help out when it's needed. It'll all come together I certain.

Christine - sorry, only just saw your question on the lamp. A neighbouring camper kept tripping the electric a few years ago so I offered to investigate for her. I found her husband's make-shift lamp to be the culprit: condensation from the tent was running down the cable into the bulb holder.

As a temporary fix I unscrewed the cap where the cable enters, squeezed blu-tack in and screwed it back on again to make a seal against the water. Whilst I DO NOT recommend this, I am amazed at the number of branded mains camping lamps that have no water-proofing.
