I believe some stoves are designed so that they cannot be operated without the pan support being fitted the right way up to prevent mishaps.
I know that for certain as both of mine are built that way - the gas bottle cannot be engaged without the pan support in the right way up!

DK168 - Yep same design on my 2 stoves (campingaz Bistro & Hi Gear). You can not operate the stove without turning the pan support the correct way.... unless you really force it.
Go Outdoors currently have the in-store offer of buy 2 packs x 4 220g get 1 free. Total 12 tins - works out at about £0.96p tin.
mcguire - good tip on the canisters, looks ideal for our trip a Saturday
as to flares, our old Bluet (or whatever the tall skinny, disposable canister stoves were called) can do this quite readily if mis handled - and be lethal if it was inside a tent. The problem seemed to occur when the gas canister had got hot in the sun
one reason to go to the suitcase style was the canister is more protected by the body of the stove
Does anyone know if all the models are basically the same thing rebadged - HiGear can be had well under a tenner but CampingGaz generally rather more, so being safety critical I was looking at the dear ones
that looks like a reasonable price for a stove and gas, also go has the stove at a fiver with a discount card so if you have a store near by may be worth a look

Looks like a very good spec stove, bargain in my book when the price includes 4 cans of gas!!!
I take it the "windshield" refers to a ring around the burner, which is absent in some of the stoves I have seen.
My late partner bought one without it, and he found the flame did get blown out more often than the ones he got that have that feature.

the advert says it comes with 8 cans of gas which makes it even better value

Even better value! I shan't be getting one though as I already have 2 suitcase stoves!

just to update, finally got our stove from Yoemans this week
got the pukka Camping Gaz one with 4 CP250 canisters for £15
not sure if it is a shop only deal but only found out they were doing them for that when I went in to sort out an Outwell Kids Sleeping bag for £10 (another good bargain)
That's a brilliant place and I've stopped by their outlet a couple of times.
OH has just bought a similar rig for an impromptu camp without me because she prefers gas to my 'techie' liquid fuel gear. However... she paid that for just the rig without gas from the High Street...

I looked online and no offer, yeomans may be one of the retailers that wont ship gas in the post as i didnt notice any on their site
I still think Yoemans undersell themselves (quite the opposite of GoOutdoors) they do some excellent deals
I have often seen deals in store that were better than anywhere on the web - and the great thing is you can get their web deals sent to the shop for free, like the half price Outwell kids sleeping bags (or the Vango Omega 350 mega bargain recently, I manage to resist)
Saw these stoves and gas cannisters in Asda again last week, they are now £7 for four but on a BOGOF deal so 8 for £10. these last me quite a while, but always buy them when they have them in stock. I take my stove out of the suitcase and put the case around whichever way the wind is blowing? I have 2 of these from Asda and they are well worth the cash.
This won't help the OP but hopefully will help others...
The camping exhibition that was running in Codicote was selling 12 Camping Gaz branded cartridges for £10. That particular exhibition has now closed *but* the same company are running their other annual show in Wokingham so I assume the price will be the same there.
