Thanks for the opinions, everyone, I don't know that I'm all that much the wiser.

I called coolbox uk and they said that the Yeti's are just a bit better thought-out with a few better design features than the Icey-Tek but there's otherwise no difference in the cool-retention properties.

I'm tempted by the price of the Maxcold but I'm from Oz and we will eventually move back there and will want to take it back with us when we do so want to be sure it really is as good as the Icey-Tek/Yeti.

We have a cheap 33ltr which is definitely too small and not cold enough but we'll use it for our next couple of trips to decide just how much too small it is.

Decisions decisions!

thought about a coleman xtreme cooler ? i am looking at those at the moment that or a waeco electric cool box

I think the inside of the coleman is a lot smaller as the walls are thicker than an igloo, I believe it does the same job but less room for drink etc......or food etc
