If you only had Diss as the way point then Via Kings Lynn would have been the shortest route and not via A14.. The Sat Nav was trying to find the quickest /shortest route as you have no doubt set it up to do.
As I said, the unit ignored the way point and tried to take me across to Holt from Cambridge. I still believe that the unit should follow a downloaded route without interpreting it into another route entirely. I'll persevere. Thanks for your input.
I planned a route, south on A1, east on A14 then up A143 through a way mark at Diss and up to Holt on the north Norfolk coast. The way you wanted to go, only one waypoint set - Diss
The Zumo 550 wanted me to turn off the A1 towards Newark and Kings Lynn. Even when I ignored it, it kept insisting on turning me around for miles. When I was approaching Cambridge, it decided to route me straight up Norfolk, ignoring my waymark
Have a look at Google map this is the shortest way even via Diss as you asked the unit to do. You should have entered more way points for the unit to go A14/A143
** The GPS unit did exactly what it was instructed to do - get to Norfolk via Diss/Holt**
When you went your way via Cambridge did you pass Diss and on your way to Holt...? If you did then the GPS unit was right.
Have a look at Google map and you will understand what has happened . If you enter more waypoints it would have gone the way you wanted.
