I used to live in Radcliffe back in the 70's and there was a camping shop with tent displays, in an old mill just of Ainsworth road, I was only young at the time but could that have been were Castlecroft Camping started from?.
I think also that Castlecroft was in Bury for a time, before going back to Radcliffe.
Memories, memories, we too used to live in Radcliffe in the 70's, from about 1976 to 1979, off Ainsworth Road at the bottom, near Water Street. I remember going to Castlecroft when it was in Bury, on a corner near the railway station (the one where the steam trains are now, not the current station). I also remember it moving to Radcliffe, on Eton Hill Road if I'm not mistaken. All seems an awful long time ago.....
Well over the years i bought quite a few things at castlecroft and the staff was really helpful. But looking at their website i was surprised they only open from monday to friday now, which sounds odd to me as most of us do our browsing and buying at weekends,sorry to say i cant use this shop anymore not worth having a day off to do a bit of shopping.but i wish them well on their new venture
