I work in the fishing trade and can see why people would use bedchairs for camping. They offer a lot more comfort than any camping setup I have come across however I still don't use bedchairs due to the pack size but I will say if you have the room then go for them. You can get them now with a inch thick mattress built in, a little more expensive but bloody comfy. I use the outwell double folding bed, which are heavy duty but still not in the same league as a bedchairs!
We both have SIM when we camp but I have always struggled to sleep well wherever we have travelled so this year have decided to get a fishing bedchair. I visited go outdoors as I know the guy who works on the fishing department has sold me stuff before and been excellent each time I visit! He recommended them highly but suggested to try to avoid the cheaper end of the market and to be fair demonstrated exactly why not as a few of the products were very flimsy. He then showed us some further up the price range at about £80 which he suggested would last a lot longer. Needless to say I will be picking one or two up before Easter!!
