i used to fill the kettle and switch on, then turn off the remote socket, take remote to bed and flick the remote socket back on in the morning, voila a boiled kettle without getting out of bed, then you 'inform' your kids to make the tea!! bonus!!
we have been using them for heating appliances for years with no problems, but might alter from one set to another, we have used Tesco and Asda ones.

Man of my our heart... that is what I plan to do !!!
I bought a set of these in Asda a few years ago for £5 for my 3 table lights in my living room as each switch is set to the same channel plus the table light in the hall.
It just means I can switch all my table lamps on/off from 1 button.
At the time I thought they seemed a good deal for £5 so I went back and bought a 2nd set! They were put in the cupboard as I thought 1 day ill find a use for them - and here it is on uk campsite!!!
Perfect for the tent to switch everything off before hopping into bed!
Thankyou folks!

Thinking of getting a set as part of my camping set up

No - use DH!!
Seriously though, looks like a good idea. I may treat him to a set!
Now there is a good idea! We have had a couple of sets of 3 for about 10yrs now. Use them to plug all the outdoor xmas lights into & hey presto! all lights on/off or just some on. Brilliant - cant do xmas without them. Guess they will be in our camp kit for summertime use. Thats good use of a piece of kit.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
