Ah yes the kettle. The most important piece of camping equipment. Personally I would make sure it's made from stainless steel as anything made from aluminium (even though it maybe lighter) has the ability to leave an after taste in the water.
The next thing I look for is a removable lid as this helps when filling the kettle and a folding handle to reduce space. You have lots of choice but I've found the Vango Kettles very good or anything similar...
Example 1.6Ltr whistling version here. Available from Amazon with free shipping.
We picked up a 2.5 l one from B&M at the end of last year for £1.50 same as above, but in pick (wifes choice) and the handle doesnt fold, but thats not a issue for us.
Whistles well, have even used at home when our electric kettle stopped working.
Mistakingly bought one of the "cheapie" whistling kettles from Go - they are awful!
There is a lip inside the kettle where the spout has been welded on, this meant the kettle never fully empties when you pour it, and you get that stale water smell after a while when its been stood - will be upgrading before next trip!
We started with the B&M 2L whistler which was great in every way, except of course, you have to fill through the spout. (Can cope with that, as our water carrier is a supermarket 5L bottle!!) However, my rather heavy handed sister thought she'd do us a favour by going to the stand pipe to fill bottle and kettle up... and promptly returned with her tail (yes, I did say SISTER!!) between her legs... and the whistling spout cover in her hand!! )
We then "upgraded" to One of these. Got a lid, so easy to fill. Looks the biz, and colour goes so well with PC, don't yer think? The only problem with this, is that it is officially the noisiest kettle in the world!!
Oh no, not the whistle.... it pings, clangs, screeches and bangs it's way from 0 deg to 100 in a way that would not only disturb your neighbour on site, but your neighbour back home, too!! (Imagine shaking it when dry... with half a dozen 4" nails, and a pack of 100 loose staples in it!!).
It's fine when it's cold, but if you are planning on heating it up...!!!!)
It was so bad, we took it back for an exchange, thinking it must be a one off... but the replacement was no better. It's now at the back of the spare room, and we have gone back to the same (a new) B&M green one. We'll just have to keep my clumsy sister well away!!
This is £5 fromASDA.slightly differnt to ours but we gave £5 for our from here a couple of years ago.Ours is like the one mucker1884 has posted a link to,but as I have sai £5 from ASDA.The lid is a bonus for filling as well.

same happened to me with a similar looking kettle, lucky no-one was scalded. I went back to using an ancient kettle I bought from the Co-Op for £3 almost 20 years ago.
