I have a self inflating mat, it's very good and i never felt the need for an airbed. The only thing you need to remember is to undo the valve when you get up in the morning. If you don't and it's a hot day, the air inside the mat get's hot, expands, and you end up with a over-inflated mat that you cannot sleep on!! Luckily, I bought Metzler ones, and they changed it!
