Another vote for the carp fish beds, these are more comfy than your home bed. We use the nash wideboys and they are so comfy. Downside is they are massive when packed away so you need to keep that in mind.
SIM/Camp bed combo sounds really good and probably better than the carp bed packing wise...But I love my carp bed...Never had a bad nights sleep on it...
I can be comfy on a SIM on my back packing trips...But miss the carp bed (badly) on those occasions...
Big plus for me with the carp bed..Is the six adjustable legs...Ten mins juggling around with them and you have a flat level surface to sleep on no matter what the ground conditions on your pitch....

Thank you so much for all of your help and advice. I must say, I have been looking at the camp beds and didn't realise that I would have to assemble many of them myself. I thought the legs would just fold out, silly me.
Still looking at the different options. It can' t take up much room in the car as I sold the trailer last year when we bought the van, lol!! The aims are very big when rolled up though so if we haven't got two double sims, I am sure things will fit much easier!
Thanks again!

If you do the camp bed plus sim combo, does it feel stable?
I've tried them out in shops, and although I'm a very curvy girl, I'm not as heavy as many normal blokes, and they feel really wobbly and unstable to me. Just not sure how it would work out if I turned over in the middle of the night!
But then, I'm very short and near the ground anyway, so sleeping on an air bed or sim on the floor doesn't really bother me. :)
Done the Air Bed thing and binned it after 1st camp.
Bought SIM and Camp bed never looked back. Folding bed or Camp bed The former just folds out but can be a finger pincher The latter can be a bit of a faff to put up when new but does the job. I have both types as the camp bed is lower and suits the Calais tent better.
Put SIM on top, job done. I put a blanket on top of the SIM to stop the sleeping bag from sliding about.

The one you call a Folding Bed is what I meant by a camp bed.

Not sure what you were trying out, Rach, but we just got run of the mill, average beds, at average price, from GO and they've been as solid as, erm... a very comfortable, 6' long, flat rock!!
Can't comment on other makes/models though, as these are the only ones we've ever used.... and have had no need to look into getting others!
If anything is gonna move, it's the SIM, not the bed, imo.
We use a doctored fitted (elasticated) sheet for that, so another possible niggle is thus avoided.
Oh... Just be aware, if anyone is considering a bit more luxury/size, with the XL Bed, as our friends did, and you want to lay them lengthways (rather than across the width of your tent), get your tape measure out! Ignore the official dims of your bedroom (at floor level), you need to measure 47cm off the floor, and chances are, your rear bedroom wall is sloping inwards as it rises, and thus shorter here than at floor level!
Another vote to use a fitted sheet (I got cheapo flannel ones from Lidl's) to keep the SIM on top of the camp bed in place, and it makes the bed comfier for me.

We have a Coleman comfort double airbed. The one with separate valves for each side, a godsend cos my hubby is alot bigger than me and I had visions of him getting into bed and me being flung out
We only camp in France so we don't worry about cold air.
I take mattress protector and also an enhanced mattress protector (the type from Dunelm, the warm fleece one side and cotton the other). Didn't buy one special, I take the one off our bed back home.
Then lastly I put a fitted sheet on.
It does need topping up every night but I don't find that a bother.
I've got the outwell double campbed (posadas??) but not used it yet on holiday.
We had the same bed issue and we now have found the answer that suits us we opted for fishing bed chairs, and we are over the moon with them. So comfy they can be bulky but we have bought bags for them that keep that together and there is even enough room to put some bedding in there.
Another vote for double Platinum Raised with Support Zones airbed very comfortable [;)
