We got one of the ASDA £20 folding BBQ's at the beginning of the summer as I hate disposable BBQ's and we were staying at a site for a week that did not allow campfires (I love cooking on a campfire when we can) it is a great size for cooking for 4 and folds away do a decent size however I only expect to get another season out of it so think I may look at something like the Webber once this is past it.

last week we took 2 disposable barbecues we bought from Go Outdoors - we only used one as it was rubbish, it never really got very hot to cook on, I eventually gave up and cooked the food on the camping stove

still haven't used the other one, don't see the point!

Only used it twice but not encountered that problem at all.

We used one of those instant light bags and as the coals burnt down into smaller pieces they kept falling through the holes, someone on the site we were staying at said the same thing happened to them. You can only speak as you find.

I got the angle grinder out and made a cast iron grill for my Weber Go Anywhere,from an old gas bbq grill. It grills steaks to perfection,does a mean small roast and is built to last a long long time.

Always found the disposables fine for an hours worth of cooking. No off flavours but then again it could be the amount of extremely hot chilli sauce I put on my burgers......

How do you guys clean your bbq grill as when I took my small bbq I found it such a chore and never got it fully clean

Also lighting the lumpwood charcoal was hard going with firelighters.

The Grilletto / Son of Hibachi ticks most of the boxes:

    Easy to light
    Cast iron self cleaning grills
    Uses briquettes so long cooking time
    Extinguish coals when you've finished cooking so you just top up the coals next time you cook (cheap to run)
    Folds in half so doesn't take up too much space


I use mine at home too, it's easily big enough for 6 people.
It's well made, I've had mine for about 4 years and use it from spring to autumn (yes, I'm one of these people that stands outside in a coat BBQing )

As you can probably tell, I'm a big fan!

+1. Same porcelain enamel warranty as its bigger brothers. Legs clamp over the lid for easy carrying, and the rectangular shape makes for easier transport than their alternative form factor, the round Smokey Joe.
