a good sim ( not a cheap crappy one....had those) is fine on the floor alone. 3cm at least. i only put the foam mat underneath because i don`t want a puncture or a foil foam mat underneath in winter for insulation.

Mine is 10cm 😄

Are sims less likely to 'leak' or puncture than airbeds? Finding my airbeds only last a couple of years.

We also have 3 children. They all sleep on roll mats with a sleeping bag. We have an airbed. We looked at a campbed / campbeds but they take up a lot of space.

We use this

http://www.riversidegardencentre.co.uk/quest-chatsworth-navy-sun-lounger.html

With a SiM on the top. We also altered the legs so that they're slightly longer and put them in a separate bag and put them on when we put the tent up.

Its like a real bed and I can sit up in bed in the morning to read or have a morning cuppa
