Well another old post revived, I have had my Thermos Ultimate Gunmetal 800ml Flask for going on five years now, and when the larger version came out three years ago I said I was going to add that to my collection as well.
So the Thermos Ultimate Charcoal 900ml Flask arrived today, the extra capacity will be real handy, and I like the way that they have improved on the stopper which is now a two part affair.
I would have gone for the Gunmetal finish again, but the Charcoal finish was around £5 cheaper, and to be fair is quite a nice finish so I am more than happy with it, at the end of the day it is just a Flask to keep hot water in.
The price was good at £26 which was less than I paid for the 800ml model all those years ago.
As with the last model I have ordered a replacement spare stopper, which I will probably never use, even the 800ml model the origianal stopper is still in as new condition, but there is always the chance that the stopper seal could fail, or the stopper itself could be lost, OK so a bit of OCD on my part.
Got both Flask's filled with boiling water at the moment, and will see how the pair compare in the morning, using my digital thermometer, I really must get out more.

We’ll interestingly after filling both flask’s with boiling water, I checked them 24 hours later, the contents of the new 900ml flask was at 69.3 Deg C, and the old 800ml flask was at 67.1 Deg C, so it would appear that the new flask is holding the heat better by 2.2 Deg C, could this be because the old flask is five years old and has lost some of it’s thermal retention qualities, or is it because the new flask is holding 100 mls more water.
Or maybe it’s just that the new flask is better.
Either way they are both excellent flask’s, but I do have to say that the two part stopper on the new model is a brilliant piece of work, making it very easy to open and close, compared to the old flask where the stopper could prove quite hard to open at times.
Francis, I conclude that to ascertain which flask is best as the scientific results are so close would be to make cups of tea from each one and compare. Even Mrs F might like a cup and be able to help with the 'research'!!
Well to be fair Frazzle, I only make instant coffee (Douwe Egberts Pure Indulgence Dark Roast 4) with water from the flask, for making a cup of tea, the water from the flask goes into my in car 12v kettle, to get it to a rolling boil, great for making the perfect brew or pot noodles.
The Thermos Ultimate 900ml is a superb bit of kit, and has proved better than the 800ml model that I used to use.
My friends have two big Stanleys which are over 30 years old and still going strong! I've been given two or three small 1l Thermos stainless steel vacuum ones over the last ten years and have found them very variable. Ironically, my best flask is a plastic skinned vacuum 1.5l flask bought in Asda 20 years ago and it's good for 24 hours.

Yep ficklejade, looks like you found a good one there from ASDA, strange that I have never seen the Thermos Ultimate Flask’s in the regular shops, or camping shops come to think of it, they only seem to be available from etailers, although I am sure that some specialist shops will be stocking them, but I have yet to find one.
I found a Thermos in our garage whichis a few years old, still ok. It went to the charity shop.An old established name!
I used to have the metal outer glass inner ones when young but regularly broke them! You could get replacement inners then, not sure if that's the case now.

Mine is a 1L Stanley that came with a 500ml food flask.
When the evenings were cool/cold, I used to keep hot water in it so that I did not have to turn off the heater in order to turn on the kettle.
Hot enough for making a hot chocolate and Ribena, not tried it with tea or coffee as I seldom drink them after 18:00.
In the morning, I would return the leftover to be recoiled the next morning and save some energy.
