Hi there.I have bought the llidle sat box and the problem is that I cant try it at home and will have to wait till next week when we are away in the caravan so can anyone tell me what channels I should be able to recieve will it be the I.T.V.1,2,3,& BBC 1,2,3.ect also the sat finder dosent look very promising will it be best to buy one with a meter & audio any recomendations ? Thanks for any help.
I'm not an expert, but it's a universal lnb, so a good chance that it would work with sky decoded.
Either way, we managed to get one from our local Lidl - at less than £70, we felt we should give it a whirl. I have visions of spending too much time trying to get it to work. OH (who did the shopping) reported that people were buying 3 and 4 at a time, so I expect to see them up on e-Bay shortly. Staff at the shop couldn't understand why people were buying them and thought it was some pre-World Cup rush!
Yes its got ITV 1 tynetees meridion london grampian etc but not Granada as I can see, I will have another look tonight. BTW it may be worth investing in one of these if you have the system
,
allthough it does have a satellite finder built in via a tone which gets higher, if you're outside the van you probably won't hear it.
Assume this is a suitcase system, we have one of those and use it reguarly. Will pick all BBC, ITV, channels plus Film4 will not pick up channel 4 and 5. You can use it with a Sky dish we used ours in the French Alps with a sky zone 2 dish (60cms) The dish supplied (38cms I think) will be good for England Wales and northern France. Scotland and most other places it will struggle. We picked our Sky zone 2 dish up off Ebay brand new for £20 inc P&P. The 4000 channels it refers to are 99% rubbish consting of pay for view porn, from Russia to the Arab states, to shopping channels, the 4000 channels is what it can recieve on a total off about 10 different sattelites. Is it worth the money? To me it is am a news junkie so will put the tv on in the morning and watch the news, same last thing at night, rarely watch tv at night tho, but is handy if the weather turns bad. The difference between this and a Sky reciever is this system is meant to be set up time and time again a Sky box is desinged to be set up once by a professional. Are they hard to set up? yes and no, it is like riding a bike, easy once you have done it, hard when you havnt. The trick to set up is getting a compass out and getting the thing pointing in the right direction. This bit is critcal as ther are stallite all in the same area and you could end up hitting the wrong one. Remeber the dish will be almost vertical. Skydishs are a bit easy to set up, cause they can only move between 2 axis. Sometime I will use a signal meter if i cant hit the satellite straight away, this is another dark art. If you have never set one up before my advice is practise at home if possible. The first time I set one up on our van I did it straight away (fluke) the second time involed a lot of swearing. Once you have done it a few times it is easy, even tho you got to be milimeter acurate it is quite easy, you kind of get a feel for it, but doing it 1st time sometimes it feels impossible.
