Always have, and always will. Are you saying you never leave home without the CH on...or oven, maybe? (i dont leave the van with any gas on btw). The heating - and hot water, will always be on low when we are out (in cold weather), but never off. One thing we dont do is heat awnings. Cannot see the point of being sat out with my coat on when there is a perfectly good - and warm, caravan nailed to it. Best trot your list out to see what i agree with!
Does anybody use a small 500w convector heater? I’m wondering if one left on all the time in winter would keep the caravan warm with very little amps required & silent?

A 500w heater would certainly take the chill off, and maybe even keep it warm. It would draw around 2.1 amps constantly though, which would amount to quite a bit over a period of time.
The convector heater we have is a 2kw one, but we only ever have it on the 1kw setting. When we are on a site we are already paying way over the odds for electricity, unless like last year we are on a site with metered electricity, so it doesn't cost us any more to leave the heater on overnight.
Cheers Colin. I find a bigger convector 1kw too hot even in winter to leave on all the time so I was wondering about 500w. Belling do a 500w free standing intended mainly for lofts etc to stop pipes freezing but I wonder if suitable for a caravan? You can also buy 500w convectors off ebay suppliers for much cheaper than Belling.

My 2kw heater is thermostatically controlled, so you can set it at whatever temperature you want. Once it reaches that pre-set temperature it switches off. I think I paid about £15 for it a few years ago, but Argos have one similar now for £20. Mine has two switches on it, 1kw and 2kw, and a rotary temperature setting.
Not sure I'd want to leave any heater running 24/7 right through winter though, as it would probably double my electricity bill, even at 500watts.
