The Alko pulls out telescopically if its well greased and you lie on the ground to pull at the right angle.
Its MUCH easier to fit than it is to remove the spare but the chances are that you will never need to use it anyway

It has been done before by Van Royce I think
The wheel is very heavy relatively and its better to have that weight low down and near to the axle and it doesn't need cleaning as its well out of the road spray and out of sight !!!

I think the problem is that this is not overly secure, but then none of the systems are, are they?
I still think that for those challenged in the mobility department as I am, the best location for the spare was in the front locker. This also offered a degree of security.
Even if I could get down on the ground to get at the spare, I'd be disinclined to in the pouring rain. Hopefully my rescue company would do this for me......
