Don't think the freezer trick will work with steel pegs. Having an understanding of metallurgy I'd be pretty amazed if they returned to their former shape. Once the pegs are bent beyond a point they're plastically deformed. 'Z' Rims by DuPont (I think) were the BMX wheels that would reurn to their shape in the freezer, or so rumour had it, I just ended up replacing the spokes !

Erm, I think that Dave recommended this for the plastic pegs, not steel?

Would be interesting to hear if this trick worked, Charlies Mummy....?

Hmm, sorry, humble pie.

Skipped through the posts and yes plastic could return to it's shape depending on the composition.

Also made me think about the solid plastic wheels for BMX - Skyways ? Five spoke jobs ?

Memory decreasing, as is my speed reading  !

Yup yellow plastic five spoke things. Skyways sounds familiar but couldn't be sure.

I think they're still in the back of the shed somewhere!

Still no word from Alison?

I've searched on line and come up with 'hard ground pegs' here - link

We use these and haven't had any trouble with them at all. Just gloriefied 6in nails with plastic heads on.No matter what the ground is like they do the job just make sure knock them at an angleSometimes need a puller to get them out though.#

Just got back from the Alps and at the last minute I noticed the site recommended rock pegs so we went to Oswald Bailey and they were about £2 for 4.  Had we not had them we would have been in serious trouble I can tell you cos the ground was rock solid!!
