We had trouble with the tescos pre soaked this year, even tried it on a nicely burning campfire to get rid of it., Still would n't burn and almost put the fire out!!!!

...He decided to make one himself with an old stainless steel bathroom bin that was lying around in the shed ..It's fab and takes the hard work out of lighting the bbq. Best of all, it cost nothing! Re-use, recycle and all that.
Yeah,I've got some off cuts of s/s flue liner and I was looking at using some of that..
..and after SausageKnocker's recommendation(..what's the chance of me ever typing those words again?!..hope no one checks my hard drive now! ),I think I'll make something..
ApplesandPears..ours was the Tesco too!! We bought some more from Sainsburys and it was fine. Maybe they soaked it in something fire-retardant this year by mistake!!!
layr of charcoal , some cotton wool with a bit of petroleum jelly on it, fire steel on/over that and thn just build up a pyramid of charcoal over the burning tinder. same for lighting a fire but substitute dry wood for charcoal. if it starts to look like its going out blow on it or waft a book over it get the oxygum onto it. you remember the fire triangle don't you heat fuel oxygum . need all 3 to get a fire . lighting em on dive trips is easy as we use the the 100% 02 .
