I got a trailer for this years camping trips and must say it's been so much easier... Trailer stays loaded all spring/summer so we can just hook it up and go. Same for when we get home, no faffing about unloading the car. The speed limit thing ain't an issue for me (i like to take it easy anyway!).

I'm gonna get some load bars for the trailer next year and fasten a roof box to it and give us a bot more room.

So answering the op's question... Don't worry about pro's and cons coz you'll probably end up with both!!!

Just to add to your confusion........................

We had a Picasso, an yes, there is plenty of storage but I like to take the kitchen sink when camping an enough blankets to keep a whole campsite warm

However, we only live in a terrace with a back yard an don't have the storage space for a roof box, so bought a ROOF BAG!!!!! an how fantastic is it, well it's bloody brilliant if you must no!!!

It's 450L in size, it zips round three sides then further fastens with velcro. It's been sprayed with waterproofing, it has 8 adjustable strap fastners on it.  We normally fill it in the house (with alll the soft stuff like blankets, sleeping bags, pillows, airbed's, an also things like the hair dryer, straightners, air pump, toilitires, etc), then we roll it out to the car and between the two of us, lift it up onto the roof bars.

We use one of them JML fold up step ladders to go round the car and secure all the straps.

We think it's brill as it folds up into a carry bag afterwards and with the square acrylic base that goes inside it, fits under the bed or in the wardrobe no problem.

Plus, the cost of the bag was about £60, and has been worth every penny.

You can get them on ebay, just put Roof Bag in, there's loads of them.
