We bought two of these self-inflating mats at the end of last years camping season (we prefer the hotter weather) and couldn't wait to try them out.  Having noticed that a mini heat wave was descending on the country we decided to go camping this weekend - they were fantastic!

They, obviously, inflate themselves with a few extra puffs as they are new.  The comfort level cannot be faulted, I have the more fuller figure, and I was more comfortable than I have ever been on anything else.

Thumbs up and a recommendation from us for the Fat Airics.

I wonder what 2 of these would be like on top of the bedding in the caravan side by side for a double bed.  I am thinking in the summer rather than a 2" or so memory foam mattress we lug around which i suspect would be quite hot laying on vs these things? maybe just a sheet covering them and then sheet or quilt on top?

Anyone thought of that or tied it?

Just thinking about taking out the lumps/bumps of the Caravan seat cushions even when turned over they are a bit uncomfortable arn't they.

Just took delivery of one today and from first impressions it looks great. Left it a couple of hours to inflate then tried it with no extra pressure and it felt fine, couldn't feel the floor under me which has always put me off these type of mats.
Will try it for real this weekend.
cheers
Richard.

Fat Airics are great, didn't think I would get on with them, being a big lad!, but they are very comfortable, and a damn site cheaper than Thermarest. Alpkit who make them are a pleasure to do business with, nothing is too much trouble, with super fast delivery.

Mat.

Sadly the fat airics are just too bulky for me to carry which is why I went for the more expensive (but lifetime guarantee) thermarest. Mind you I didn't pay premium for my thermarests, I bought them in the winter sales

Same comfort level I believe but with less bulk. As most of you are car campers the extra bulk won't of course be a problem for most of you.

Either way a quality self inflating mat is a million times better than an airbed whichever one you go for.

Just got back and the verdict on the Fat Airic? excellent, very comfortable and it takes up no room in the tent compared with an airbed.
Thanks to you all for recommending this great product and the service from Alpkit was also excellent with very fast delivery.

Richard.
