A fan heater would probably heat up a large space better than a Halogen heater but a Halogen heater does have a safety cut off switch in case its knocked over.

we use halogen for safety with 2 kids plus it doubles a light

Black cat great for the larger tent with no hookup. Its being upgraded this year, to run on more common gas cannisters.

We use EHU so for us its a 400/800wt halogen heater ,as has been mentioned has a safety cut out,keeps our tent nice and warm .Safety is our reason with an 8yr old.
