Hi - we have the Ice Cube 70ltr shape version of the same cooler. What works for us .,. is blocks on the bottom.. bag of ice on the top .. I also freeze 1ltr plastic pop bottles full of water .. doesn't cost anything and help keep the temp down.
I freeze whatever food we aren't using the first night. On the top I keep a sheet of that polysyrene material they wrap new tellys in .. so that when we are in an out for drinks etc I can fill the void left.
We still had problems spreading butter on 5th day it was that cool.!

this depends on what you are putting in the cooler if you fill the cooler with frozen food put NO ICE OR ICE PACKS IN as ice is formed at 0 degrees so if you have frozen food in there which you have taken from the frezzer which would have frozen at -20 you would in fact be putting a heat sorce in there so frozen food would defrost quicker than if you just had frozen food
if you imaginge the cool box as a time machine you put frozen or ice cold drinks in them they will defrost very slowly and this is because of the insulation on the igloo cool boxs that on the maxcold range will give upto 5 days of keeping ice
second point if you are wanting to keep drinks ice cold then put ice or ice packs in NEVER at the bottom as cold air dosnt rise ice is great as this will form around you drinks and cool them down very well ice packs on the top as this will allow cold air drop around your food and drinks and will chill them
hi water freezes at 0 degrees ice is ice weather in a freezer at -20 or -1 when frozen food is taken from a freezer at -20 it is solid and will defrost over time by adding 0 degrees which is ice this would defrost frozen food quicker than if left alone in the cooler with lid shut
basicaly frozen food is an ice pack and would stay frozen for upto 5 days in the igloo maxcold range of coolers but would defrost very slowly over time if lid is kept shut
Sorry Kevin but don't agree.
Once water freezes and becomes ice, it WILL continue to drop in temp as it
gets colder. The ice in your freezer at, say, 0 degrees F, is much colder than
the ice that has just frozen at 32 degrees F. Similarly the food in your
freezer, which is largely composed of water, will get colder and colder as
the temperature drops. The frozen vegetables in the back of the freezer
case at
the supermarket are colder than those in the front. The bag of ice in the
deepest recesses of the supermarket freezer will melt more slowly in your
car than the bag of ice from the front.
