Thanks - I can now eat my toast without the arm ache!
I also have a 2 ring cooker with grill - yes they are slow - but timed correctly you can cook egg and bacon while its toasting! I usually have to move the slices 4 times. Tomatoes in pan ontop of grill, the other ring on low gas with the sizziling sausages, took days of practise to cook breakfast for 3 people - only need one day and back into the swing! not forgetting the tin plate ontop of the tomato pan heats the plate up so no cold breakfast!

ScampisOH, my dad and our friend can all cook a full brunch (sausages, bacon, black pudding, mushrooms,, beans, potato slices and egg) on one of those single-burner stoves .... all you need is one of those rectangular griddles (the ones with a smooth surface on one side) and a couple of the very small pans that Asda have in their bbq range!!! The three of them get some very envious looks when they are sat in row on a Sunday morning making wonderful smells! Oh - and they make toast too - stick the bread directly on the hot griddle (with no fat, it toasts, not fries).
I use the toasted sandwich bags at home all the time for toasted cheese sarnies and was wondering if I could use these on the camping stove? I think if put one on top of the Argos folding single toaster and then turn the bag over - then this would make lovely toasted sarnies. Because the bags have handles this should make it easier to pick up with a metal tent peg or fork. I know you cannot put these bags in contact with an actual flame but if it is on top of a trivet I would have thought they would work excellently. Definitely going to try it on our next trip.
The round toaster is a complete waste of space and £1.99. I threw mine away after one use. The newest one to look out for is by GSI, the company which brought out Lexan plates and cups. This toaster is not yet available in the uk but is availabe in Canada and the U.S. Its call the Glacier stainless Radiant Toaster. You can buy it from www.mec.ca
Can you use those for toasted sandwich bags like Wilkos got a few posts up??I have those but they don't fit my leccy toaster but I have a gas burner too.Haven't been able to use them yet!!Would like to though.Any ideas??
I'm going to try using the bags next time we're camping. I would have thought that as long as the bag does not touch the flame the bags should be fine - so on top of the compact toaster I would have thought they would be ok. I haven't got the toaster yet so I can't try it out.
