We live on a hill and strugle to get our folding camper in and out of the garage. Husbands say a winch would do the trick.

Anyone know  where we could get one for a good price?

Thanks Christine

Hi Christine

I was also looking at these and found one suitable from western towing, tho the complete kit was about £50.

Depends what type you are after, there are electric 12DC and 240 AC available or manual.

You will have to be a little careful in chosen what is most suitable as once it is up the slope for storage, you will need to get it back down again when you want to use it, and will probably need to get a two-way winch which will allow the load to be released down the slope under control.

The one I saw at western towing was part code W140, tho not listed on there website, this is manual tho.

Have a look on ebay for some chaper ones maybe

Andy

Perhaps one of these might suffice if the slope is not too steep -

the link to the website would not work for me, so a direct link -

A yacht trailer winch should do the job for you if you can site it in concrete. A Tirfor hand winch is also good. Be careful using electric winches because they can be really dangerous; broken cables, needles on the cable etc

I paid £15 for my boat winch from ebay from a place near Saltburn, it has 60ft of steel cable and pulls my Avondale Mayfly into my garden no problem. I made up a plate with a tow ball on one end and the winch on the other (one can be bought from Towsure), I have an anchor post in the garden to which I attach the hook, I wind away and have my van parked in about 5 minutes pulling it about 30ft. I will continue to use this method until I get a mover.
