I have the Royal Summerhouse, its a bit bigger than the dayroom/sunroom version. I've not used it while camping yet, just in the garden this weekend for a test.
I pegged it down with deltas on the guy ropes and it stayed up nice and solid all weekend (its still out there now) and nice and dry inside.
I got mine for somewhere for a group to congregate when its cold/raining as I usually go camping with a few other families.
I can highly recommend the summerhouse. The smaller dayroom version can't be much different if at all other than its smaller size.
Good to hear that the Summerhouse stood up to that spot of rain we had over the last few days .
I've got the Dayhouse. It's not been "properly" used yet, only tried out for 30mins in the garden, but it goes up really easily. It has 3 doors that can be "curtained" & 3 windows that are always "open". The windows do however have mozzy-mesh & a see-through zip down waterproof cover. It comes with a groundshhet & poles for a porch awning.
I bought the day room last year, have used it loads, while camping and at home for BBQ's.
We took it last weekend and it withstood the terrible winds, we did notice when putting up to dry that a couple of poles had a sort of bubble on the bend, but has gone up again fine, so not a problem.
Great additional space, really just use ours as kitchen / eating area.
Oh and I have just made some lovely curtains for it!
royal dayroom :available at www.wmcamping.co.uk for £90 or www.outdoorworld.org.uk for£89.99 I have just bought mine from here very prompt delivery but haven't got it out of box as yet!
We brought the Royal Summerhouse for the same reason - small tent, lots of equipment and wanted to be able to camp without being dependent on the weather so much - we'd read the horror stories about gazebos and wind so had invested £100 in this instead and it was beautiful - really nice and large but at the same time light and airy. BUT our first time out with it was BH weekend in Bath, we firmly pegged all guy ropes but sadly it didn't stand up to the strong winds that we experienced on the Sunday, and we came back from escaping the rain during the day to find the wind had vastly increased, and flattened the entire thing onto our tent - it was still pegged by the guy ropes, but the steel poles had buckled and bent so much it had gone horizontal.
The worst part is that Royal have apparently stopped production of this larger model so I can't buy a set of replacement poles - even though the tent part is undamaged - I've tried everywhere for the last week to no use so it looks like that is £100 down the drain....oh and we got it from Norwich Camping & Leisure and when we put it up there were several small holes in the fabric of the ceiling - which I've take pictures of and emailed them twice about - guess what, not even an acknowledgement - they were quick enough to say thanks when we brought it, but seems the after sales like so many of these sites is not so good....so won't be using them again either!!!
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
