We have recently bought a 2nd hand trangia - which we are delighted with- but are a bit shocked at the price of meths. Cheapest we have found is £1.99 for 500mls. This seems a bit steep to me.

Does anyone know where we can get cheaper meths or a cheaper but safe substitute?

Maybe you should be asking the winos down the local park this question

I would suggest you try and look for meths in 5 litre tins, you should be able to find them in that size for about £10.00 to £12.00

Ho Ho.... I tried white spirits but its a killer hang over

I found some 5L containers on eBay for 1.50 per 500mls inc delivery. Might buy that.

Try your local trade suppliers for painters and decorators or French polishers the normally have methylated sprits in large quantities

  Sorry should have added i got cheesed off with two stoves up Scotland the other week , picnic type in plastic case and a single burner both work o.k. but it was just too cold for them to work properly, so i got a meths stove to try. So i know it's the best price lol!!, i've looked
