I'm just reading previous threads about these lanterns and notice that a couple of folk have mentioned them falling over and the glass getting broken/tent burning!  Are these lanterns really easily breakable as we will have 4 children with us.

Have also read about being able to use Aspen 4T fuel in the Coleman dual fuel stove.  Can you use this fuel in the lantern also?  It seems safer than unleaded but less expensive than the Coleman fuel.

The glass of the lanterns can break if it's dropped or kicked; to the best of my knowledge they are not reinforced glass.  Two things I do is keep it on a solid platform (eg.e table) or hang it from a hook on a stand that was actuially bought to hang bird feeders from!!  It keeps the lantern high, thus spreading round its light, and gets the lantern off the ground away from little feet.  The hook/stand cost less than £5 and splits in two, which is useful for transport.

Don't be too quickly put off - they are GREAT lanterns!

As for the Aspen 4T, I am pretty sure, without having had the chance to try it, that it is compatible.

They are indeed great lanterns and provide much higher output than anyting else I have tried.

As with anything that is burning, safety must be given a high priority in a tent. Keep it on a sturdy table away from tent walls and little fingers.

As for Aspen 4T - No problem - nice bright fume free light
