Really keen on the Sunncamp Vario 600 (2006 onwards models) and particularly like the side area for the kitchen/larder and the sewn in groundsheet as our previous Pro Action tent badly let in the wet during windy conditions.
I have seen old topics recommending the cheaper Gelert Lokon Vario, but I wanted to check whether this had the side area and the Sewn In Groundsheet.
We have the latest Lokon vario - no, it doesn't have the sewn in groundsheet, or an extra side area for kitchen/larder. Not that you need extra room - it's huge!!!
Still undecided as to whether we'd want the sig, and in the end went for the LK6 as it was cheaper - got a good deal with windbreak and canopy, we're new to camping with small children, so didn't want to spend a fortune in the first instance in case they don't like it. Only done one night so far and they love it! Also, in my ideal world we'd have a trailer tent!!! But atm hubby is refusing to tow anything! Am working on that!!!
I've got the Sunncamp Vario 400. The 'side area' is excellent. You can keep all your plates, EHU etc out the way, leaving more space on the floor - found I had to tie a knot in the middle strap to make it straight though, first time round everything fell to the middle!
hi we had the vario 6 last year, we used to put the loo in the side area. only sold ours as the bedrooms didn't suit our needs. It stood up to some lousy weather last august in norfolk with no problems.
2006 vario 600 has 3+3 sleeping arrangement in the two bedrooms, this year it's 4+2. Tamworthcampingdirect.co.uk had some secondhand vario 600 in their ebay shop the other day if that's any help (can only see a 2006 400 at the minute with 1 hour to go at £99).
My wife is insistent on the SIG, we had major leakage problems with our previous tent and just want that extra insurance.
Appreciate the comments, I agree that the side area will be great to keep those 'untidy' elements out of the way and free from roaming and every hungry children.
I'm pretty much decided on the Sunncamp now, just looking around for the best prices ! (have been keeping an eye on Tamworthdirect on ebay).
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
