Yes you can buy them in the UK. I have never been camping in France but I have never heard about them being different. Try Towsure.------------- Brenda

Hi, You can use a normal UK lead but will require a adaptor to plug into some power supplies see below,

5M doesn't sound very long for a lead. you will be better with 10M or even 20M.
Might also be worth doing a serch on here for 'reverse polarity' too!

I think 10m is the shortest EHU lead you can buy. Most French sites do not have EHU on every pitch like a lot of UK campsites and you may have to plug your EHU into a shared bollard that can be some way from your pitch. We always take a 25m EHU cable and a 10m extension just in case.

Make sure you get one with an RCD, some only have a fused outlet that would probably not protect you in the event of an earth fault (like getting it wet). Also, get a polarity tester , as some supplies on the continent (& the UK) have polarity reversed, again in an earth fault in these circumstances the fuse is on the negative supply & so would not blow. An RCD would trip, but still better to be safe. Also, British appliances (e.g. lamps) use a single pole switch on the live only, with reverse polarity the neutral would still be live with the appliance switched off.
Enjoy camping in France, you'll love it.
