Friends of mine got out thier tent at the weekend having not used it for 12 months (it was new then!) and discovered that at each pole intersection EVERY elastic was completely shot!  I have never seen this in every pole and especially in a used twice only tent.  They have the big Gelert Satellite 6 DLX so you can imagine how much elastic they need! 

Does anyone have any idea how this has come about?  Bad packing, storing (they keep it in a waterproof plastic shed in garden ( I don't think that was an ideal place). 

Also,can anyone recommend a shop/website where they can buy elastic cheap?

sounds like it was starting to rot before it was threaded in love.Was it baggy or tight the first times they used the tent?maybe condensation ? im sure Towsure do elastic you may be able to order online.Best of luck

Took my poles into Yeomans hereford, they threaded them for me for about a fiver inc elastic. Dropped em off, went shopping, came back job done.
