Just got back from two weeks in Bavaria where we stayed on an American base campsite. They had great camping gear mainly by Coleman and it was half the price it would be here in UK. We picked up a Sportcat heater for around £15 but I thought we couldn't take the gas bottles on the Tunnel on our return.
I did have one in the car - oops - but really could do with some more now.
The cheapest I can find online is £5.01 here but am loathe to pay that when the bottles on the american base were $2.45 (£1.22)
Anyone know of stockists?

Sorry just realised after an internet search , that you're refering to the big black cylinders.
I assume you're refering to the threaded cylinders`
Go outdoors sell them at about £4.50 if you have a card
or £4.25 at Trago Mills near Newton Abbot in Devon if you're ever near there.
You can buy an adapter for about £10 and run them off CV470s which are about £3 in France but £6 in the UK (see comment in previous post) .
at £1.22 I'd fill up the car !!!!!!!!

Thanks FB and Dave.
I assume you can use the same cylinders as you do on the blackcat too so perhaps thats the route to go down. The heater is for very occasional use and you can get 14 hours from one canister so I don't see me needing lots of it.
If I had known we could take the gas on the tunnel I would have bought a slab of the cylinders - 12 for $25 (£12.50)!!!!!
Ah well you live and learn!

You can use any EN417 threaded cartridges, they don't have to be Coleman brand.

Steve I don't think these are what people call EN417 threaded cartridges, that was my mistake. I think he's talking about these This is its thread BTW: I think EN417 says nothing about threads.
EN417: Non-refillable metallic gas cartridges for liquefied petroleum gases, with or without a valve, for use with portable appliances. C 15/11/1992
threaded valve with special thread 7 / 16 NS (made to EN417).

Steve
My point was just intended to be that just because it says EN417 doesn't mean it will necessarily fit.
The cartridges you are thinking about that use the lindal valve use a 7/16 thread against the Coleman ones Elsie uses have about a 3/4" thread.
See here for more details
