We leave ours outside. We too use a plastic BBQ cover over it. It works brilliantly as it keeps everything dry and stops the pitch looking quite so messy. (We have a concertina style stand so everything is on show.)
In a Utility Tent that can be zipped up when you go offsite for the day.
Difficult to know whether the site will charge you a few pounds extra for it. They certainly do for a pup tent, but, are sometimes more lenient with a cooking tent, providing your main tent isn't a monster-width and causing you to close the fire gap between pitches. Depends on the site. Ask first.
------------- Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.
i have a two ring electric cooker which we used in the porch in hartford. if im going without EHU and cooking with gas in trailer tent its inside tent but gets disconnected when not in use.
We keep the cooker on a concertina stand with two shelves for pots and plates etc. We leave it outside all the time. Our last camp was in rainy weather though and all the pots kept getting full of rain water! Whilst browsing in Lathams at Potter Heigham, Norfolk my friend had the idea of buying a 'mini greenhouse' to keep everything in. £9.99 and dry plates for the rest of the hols!
Not suitable for food though it gets really hot inside!!
------------- Today is the tomorrow we were so worried about yesterday!

We have one of those Argos kitchen stand with the attached larder, the cooker goes on top but when we go out we stick it under the larder so it doesn't get rained on. I aways put a table next to it which gives plenty room for making cuppas or food prep. The whole lot stays outside from the minute we arrive until we leave, though i do have it behind a wind breaker
much the same but without the windbreaker. Next investment is a windbreaker! The windshield on the argos stand just wasn't enough to keep the wind off, (on the top of a cliff in dorset) and it would look a bit less messy.
