Just tried out the large Vango porch extension on my v500 and despite what vango say it will fit the v500 with a bit of work on the rear guys it really do'es help this tent as we have found the sloping front door a bit of a pain in wet weather
------------- I Think Therefore I Am I Think? eh? If all is not lost where is it?
i also got the vango large canopy for my idaho 600, ok i had to adapt it, but it fitted ok, just threw the ropes over the back of the tent and pegged them on the side, as for the elasticated part, i got sick of ducking, so just re pegged the lot and had the 2nd pole up against the tent, it fitted like a dream, it did make the canopy slightly smaller, but still bigger then the small canopy.
Hi,
this is a great thread thank you sxis & jane36. I am currently looking at both the Idaho and the v500, but I was also put off by the sloping front door of the v500 so was leaning towards the Idaho but to know that the canopy can be adapted to fit both is great. Have seen some great prices for both these tents and am now seriously tempted.
Thanks again
Scruffyish
we have a diablo 900 and I must admit to having crept up on a couple fo tents with the canopy to check it out. Am quite tempted although I'm sure the tent is proabably big enough already!!!!
------------- Camping season is here - bring it on!!!
have a look at my profile for a side view of a diablo 900xp with large sun canopy.
yes the tent is big but the extension really, especially in my wife's opinion and that matters !!! makes it a near perfect outfit.
we had it fitted to the colorado 800dlx but it kept "popping" off the front pole, where it meets the main tent, in wind.
to prevent this we carefully cut the elastic without damaging the material, and then placed it on the tent but pulled it over a bit further. it now overlaps by about 8". no problems since.
if you are thinking about one, they are now half the price we paid at the start of the season.
My thanks to everyone on this thread, I am now the proud owner of a Vango Idaho and large sun canopy..............or I will be when it gets delivered!!
Thanks again for the excellent information.
I have just got a new Coleman Columbus 4 and am looking at the large Vango canopy as the Columbus also has a sloping door. Anybody any idea if it would fit? Or can you give me an idea of how it attaches to the tent so I can have more of an idea before buying one? Thanks.
the idea is it is held in place by an elastic edge and guide ropes.
look at my profile picture and you will see it attached to mine.
they are easy modify.
mat
Thanks for that, so judging by your pic it just sits over the first pole, held down by the guy ropes. As you say, a bit of modification may be in order but would be well worth it I think.
We have seen one on a vango venture 500, a freind of ours, Poppi, was using it on a meet at Bagwell and although Vango don't list it for the v500 it really did work very well so now were thinking of getting one for our v600
