Hi guys, where is the best place to buy a roof box? have had a look in halfords but compared to online stores they do seem rather expensive.

Try e-bay. We've had a great one from there - bars and box cost £120. The only problem was that the roof box opened on the driver's side - not great if you have to park on the road! It lasted us numerous trips until someone broke into it (empty) outside IKEA just after we came back from France in the summer - at least it wasn't before we went!

I bought (from Halford) a roof bag which is made by Thule. I was apprehensive as I have to travel alone with my two autistic boys. However needn't have worried as it was great and because it is softer than a box it can be packed really well. I thoughly recommend them.

 

It was the price that swayed me and also it folds up into it's own bag after use for easier storage.

Have a look at The Roofbox Company we've used them a number of times and there service is good. Others on here have recommended them as well.

We got our thule ranger (fold up roof box) from  http://www.car-roofracks.co.uk It was the cheapest place I found for it and they had great customer service!

Would agree with the other posts. We bought a Karrite 380 box and its great. Fits nicely in our trailer over winter as well.
