Hi all

Popped in Poundstretcher yesterday to have a look at what they had in, and found a 'mini' electric radiator for £14.99.  It looks like an old fashioned radiator, and only uses 700watts of electricity.  Looks great and is an ideal size for in our Rapido - but would it be any good?

We usually use a halogen heater - too bright to leave on overnight, or a fan heater - too loud for overnight, so this looked perfect.  Does anyone have one?  How do you rate them?  Would they warm a Rapido overnight?

  Jackie, friends of ours have one and they just leave it on all the time keeps them nice and warm.

I am off tomorrow to get one for the caravan, thanks for the tip.

Just had a reply under 'folding caravan' bit - someone has bought one for £9.99 from Tesco so try there first!!!

They sound better than the fan heater we've got, I'm off to Tesco to see if I can find one.

We use one in the caravan no problem.

Left on during the cold winter nights, it keeps our 26' van lovelly and warm. It has to be VERY cold before we use the main heating now.

The heaters in caravans are safe, and designed for the purpose.

We have only ever used a heater in a tent when we were in the tent ourselves, and never at night.

Some caravan heaters are gas only. If you on hook up, it is cheaper to run an electric heater.

Also, caravan heaters can be difficult to regulate as even the lower settings can be too much.

For example, my caravan heater's low setting is 1kw. this can be too warm and so I use a lower powered heater.

We have one in the ultility room at night as thats where the dogs sleep, Keeps them toasty and warm and is so cheap to run, We leave it on all night and sometimes on cold days, Its hard to wake them up most mornings,

Have been thinking of getting one for the van, how do you reckon they would do in the awning?

Some caravans don't have heaters, likewise motorhomes. The "fitted " heater n my caravan is a 2 KW leccy fan heater - which I don't like running all night as it is very noisy and too warm!

I have had 3 caravans and one mororhome with no heating, and 3 caravans and a motorhome which only had gas heatng, so on EHU it makes sense to have a freestanding leccy heater of some sort.

I did have one caravan which had leccy & gas heating, but as the poster above says the lowest setting is 1KW so if you are sharing a hook up or at a site with a low amperage it is better to use something that draws less power.

we are new to camping and i would like to purchase a heater for the tent but would like to know which one is the best and safest?
