i've been given a couple of blue camping gaz butane bottles, i think they're 2.5 kg each, and a 5kg calor propane cylinder can i just take them to a campinggaz dealer to swap them for full ones for the fee or do i have to be a member of some sort of "sceme" or "club" thingy????
i'm thinking of using the propane in the garage for a gas torch for heating casings to fit bearings etc and the butane for family car camping trips we're planning to start soon, summer only so butane will be plenty good enough.
for the scooter camping trips i use the little 250gram coleman screw on cannisters and a micro stove, space is tight!!
We were told that it is easy to change the gas bottles but when we stayed at a small cc&c site they wouldn't let us. So try to swap it somewhere near home before going to a campsite.
Calor will swap for another size, but you have to go to a Calor shop, not an agent (ie hardware store or garage) I changed two bottles at Calor shops in Cardiff and Southampton with no problems. the agents don't like to do it as it messes up their stock levels
Calor have only just started to allow their agents to swap any for any (size or type). You will not however be able to swap a CampingGaz for a Calor though!
