I was wondering if anyone could tell me the approx wattage of a table top fridge. I am thinking about buying one online but can't seem to get any info.
We are going to France for two weeks in August on a 6amp site and would like to take it with us.
might you better off with a 3way fridge? at least you could chill it in your car enroute, and power it off gas on another occasion when you might not have EHU
just a thought.
------------- Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional
3 ways gives you more opitions, but I use a table top, we dont notice the noise, we sleep at the other end of the tent to the fridge. We use a 12v cool box for the journey £20 last year from wilkos http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0198073
Hi, we have a table top and its rated at 4amps and we dont notice any noise from it, a 3 way would defiantely be more versatile but not sure if you could use it on gas on a ferry or the tunnel and 12v would kill your battery within 1-2 hours.

No, you're not allowed to run gas appliances on a ferry. But for most practical purposes if your fridge is well chilled down and you don't open the door it will keep cold on most ferry crossings.
I have a 3-way Combicool and love it, but there's no denying it's a bulky piece of kit and takes up a lot of space in the car. Aren't table top fridges even bigger?
I think I will give the table top fridge a miss and look into getting a three way type instead.
Top favourite 3-way round here is the CombiCool, by miles. Last year they brought out a new and better model that cools to -30` below ambient, whereas the older version only cooled to -20`. I have the older one and it's fine untill you hit the August heatwaves when it struggles a bit. So if you're out looking, be sure of the difference in cooling abilities. I would definately recommend getting the more powerful version.
We use a table top fridge, can get them new for under £70 whereas 3 way units about double that! We then use it as an extra fridge when at home. No problems sleeping with the noise or with power in France. Similar size to pack.

Thanks for the advice, I think the combicool is the way to go and will look at the newer models.
Silly question perhaps, but what is the wattage? will it be ok on a 6 amp site?
