We have just bought an Oktavia estata reg 2004 but no roof rails. We want to carry 4 bikes on it.
Does anyone know what options we have? ie to get roofrails installed or use a conventional rack?
What are the pros/cons of each?
Where we can get them at a good price?
Many thanks
Sonia

4 seats in a Skoda, 4 bikes on the roof, just about sums up their reliability!
Just having a laugh, but i hate Skodas and Ladas!
Got rid of your blue face too!

You can get roof rails from your Skoda dealer for about £120 thats what we were quoted. but the proble is that if you leave them on all the time they take 10% off your fuel comsumption. You can buy bars that go across your roof from Halfords with fixings for bikes ect this was a cheaper option. If you buy the roof rails you have to then buy the bars that go across more outllay.
We are looking at a Skoda estate so that we can put our bikes in the back then when we cross the water we dont have to pay extra for them.

Sonia
My mate has the Octavia saloon and he had roof bars and 4 x bike racks fitted for a couple of hundred pounds at Halfords.
Believe you me, they are as sturdy as a rock and the easiest system I have seen for carrying bikes, it takes literally seconds to either fasten them on or take them off.
I have a MaxxRaxx on the CRV and his system makes mine look rubbish, which it is to be honest, but appeared to be the better option for us at the time.
Hope this helps.

what are you storing in the rest of the car? any room for a bike in the back?
i assume you got a towbar if you a member on here :-) if so id recommend a towbar bike rack. ive got a great thule one for 2 bikes, and i think you can get em for 3.
then just plop the 4th in the back?
or did you mean to take camping, in which case youd have the back full anyway :-(
