We recently got given a campingaz stove and when we went to try it last night, realised that I had got calor gas so the safety valve adaptor we got with the stove doesn't fit! It is one of the double stoves and grill with a hose pipe connector.
Does anyone know if we would be better off getting campingaz or an adaptor for the calor gas (7kg) (i.e. whether the campingaz stove will work on calor gas)? If we can use calor, does anyone have any idea where we could get the adaptor thingy from.
Hi scwiggle and welcome. By your description you have a regulator for a 907 type calor gas bottle. We have the the campingaz camping chef stove, picture below and to run this from a 7kg calor bottle. You will just need a regulator which is no more than a fiver and you should replace the low pressure gas hose with a high pressure hose, again around a fiver. Most good caravan or camping shops will sell the regs and hose. We already had a calor bottle so was the cheapest way to go, but if you have not got a calor bottle the price of a 7kg with deposit maybe cheaper than say a 907 type bottle.
You don't need high pressure hose as the "thingy", be it calor or campingaz is a regulator that reduces the gas from cylinder pressure to "low pressure".

Hi cdbe, unfortunately the hose supplied with the cooker is of a low pressure type, by all means this can be used with a normal regulator but is not recommended and could be dangerous This forum only can recommend options where safety is concerned and therefore the regulator and hose is required to be changed to cope with the higher pressure of a normal calor bottle as stated in the orginal response.
Sorry, but I don't understand - low pressure hose is made for use with a regulator - calor, campingaz etc. High pressure hose is for transferring unregulated/high pressure gas/liquid at cylinder pressure. Please tell me where it states that it is "not recommended and could be dangerous" to use low pressure hose with a regulated low pressure gas supply - in this case to connect the regulator to the cooker - this is what it is designed for.
The cooker is sold from new with low pressure hose suitable for connection to a range of 28mb regulators - (the reason it says 907 is because obviously they are recommending their own gas product).
From a practical point of view, high pressure hose is generally stiffer and less flexible so can be a pain when trying to pack your stove up.
