Sigg bottles are about a Tenner. Other aluminium water bottles are about 2 quid. Does anyone now the difference and are they worth it? Or is it just a brand thing. Normally when I go walking on me camping hols, I take 2 x half litre bottles which can be in anything from Pop bottles to flasks.
Sigg bottles are superior and worth the extra. I've had mine for years. For example, there is a huge difference between the construction and mateiral of the plastic spout if you compare any Sig model to a cheapy one. All the spout parts are removable for easy cleaning so that it is very hygienic. The lightweight aluminum body doesn't absorb odour. Its is 100% leakproof.
I bought a kiddy version for my son when he was 3 and he is still using it now for school. He is now age 6. I once bought a cheapy one from Matalan as a spare, but it leaked and everything about it just looked cheap. Needless to say, I bought another Sig as a spare. Believe me, 99% of the time, you get what you pay for.
Thanks for that. i was a bit bothered about water / milk being tainted as the cheap one seem to have a musty smell? If I am going to get the wear out of it, i think I will try the Sigg. Cheers4now Dave.
The Sigg ones have a coating on the inside - can't tell you what it is - but the cheaper ones won't, which may give contents a "metallic" taste. (I've been using a mini Sigg for years to take a "wee dram" with me when I'm out backpacking!
What goes around comes around.I have just been ( this morning) into TK Max in Wigan. I got told they were selling off Colombia and Helly hansen coats for £ 20. But thats another story. Also in the mens section they have all sorts of odds and sods. I got two 0.6L sigg bottles for £4.99 each. The patterns are a bit bright and gaudy, but no one will see them in the rucksack. They are in a display by the Socks section and there are about 5 / 6 left. same price.
Yes they are worth getting. Most reduced down from about £150. But they are more the heavier ones. You could not use them in the summer. Some have liners in. I got the Colombia, which is ideal for a bad rainy day on Snowdon. They would be worth keeping when our summer finishes in August ! Main sizes L. Xl and xxl. However I found that some sizes are understated. Try them on and maybe go up a size. A lot of ski wear is being sold off as well. Winter season etc.
