I have read quite a few posts and have got myself even more confused trying to figure this out so thought I wouldjust post.
We are going to get a triple mobile mains unit.
Would be able to run a normal kettle off of this? How about a table lamp for evening light? DVD player?
I am not wanting to use all these at once, but am very confused as to if these would trip the lead - or worse still effect the others sharing the same electric thingy-ma-gig
first check the wattage of each item you want to use the check the hu power 5/10/or 16amp normally. i then have a simple system of 1000watt = 5amp not correct but has never let me down.

------------- they said it couldnt be done so i left it and went camping
a bad days camping is better than a good day at work
hi simple rule is you can run most electrical items on the unit but NOT your house hold kettle 9/10 are rated at 3kw designed to boil fast for home use there are low wattage kettles we sell them but if your useing a gas cooker just use a cheap aluminium kettle for your stove
We were wondering about a kettle as not sure about buying a stove at the moment.
We are only wanting to go away for a couple of nights at the mo. If we could get away with a kettle plugged in then we could have just eaten out for a couple of days and had sarnies/cereal etc.
I've always used a normal household kettle on ehu with no problem.
I always unplug any other heating appliance first though.
i e don't use kettle with, fan heater, toaster or iron, hairdryer or straighteners on at the same time. works fine with fridge and light at the same time though.
I have done this when in the caravan or tent, no problem.
you can run a dvd player, table lamp,
a sandwich toaster was something we used to take and the george forman grill, too.
We carry a cheap tesco kettle ( 2kw ), and I would expect to be able to run the kettle and the DVD player at the sametime as the kettle. What I would not expect to be able to do would be to run the fan heater at the same time, we always unplug the fire before we put the kettle on.
Check the rating on your kettle. It should be on a label or etched in the plastic somewhere. A 2 Kw will be ok but there does seem to be a tendency towards 3 Kw "fast boil" ones in the shops now and these are too much for most camp sites.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

Idea is, my DH suggested bringing the TV so the youngsters can bring the PS2 to play on of an evening. And we can play and watch DVDs on this set-up too. As its the first time we have camped with electric, I thought I better agree to this, but am hoping weather will be so hot and sunny we will be spending all day on the beach until the sun drops into the sea.
