After years of trying different airbeds, sleeping matts, camping beds and the like, and suffering punctures and valve leakages to most of them, (and disliking preparing them for use, and disliking even more deflating, rolling them up and packing them away) I went on a search for something simple and something that would not let me down (literally)
I have just got back from trying it out and am over the moon with it, It takes 2 seconds to extend it and drop it in sleeping pod, Its 5cms of thick foam is really comfy, Its got a good tough wipe clean covering and most of all theres no blowing up or worrying about punctures or valve leakages, Even the wife said thats the best she's ever slept when camping.
And of course packing away is simplicity too Soooo fast just pick it up and it folds away, this takes 3 seconds, I am well chuffed with them, and only wish i had come across them years ago, less labour and more comfortable sleeps with no worries about air leakages.
But best of all, i get all this more comfort and less hassle for less than £15
Just back from using these mats again, still can't praise them enough, especially as wifey has found other uses for them whilst camping, She also used them folded up and stacked as another table for serving food on, then we used them again later that night as a card table, Brill, also when folded they make a great soft seat for visiting camping friends, And after the nights revelries are over a 2 second flip out for a great comfy bed again, I think York who make them should re-market them as a camping accessory rather than a gym mat, they would sell thousands
I have been debating the airbed/ self inflating mat idea, mainly because I hate having to inflate the airbeds, and they always seem to go down a bit after the first night. I was told that with the self inflators, you generally get what you pay for and the better ones seemed too expensive for me, in caes I didn't like them . the cheaper ones, around £15-£ 20 were only 3 cms thick.
I shall be getting two of these, and if hubby and I don't like them they can go in the other bedroom for the grandkids when they come with us.
I have a double sleeping bag which I hate, because the zips only come halfway down the sides. I shall put two of these beds inside it, and it should be well insulated above and below, and keep them together.

That's brillian slider, i can sleep anywhere on any surface but lady caster is a little more delicate, i'll be trying one of these as a moan reducer, thanks
Now it is warmer, my wife puts a double bed fitted sheet over our 2 york mats to hold them together, and our unzipped sleeping bags on top like a quilt, It's just like being in bed at home, very comfortable and snug, and this only takes seconds to set out and to pack away, plus no worries of anything deflating
These must be selling, A camping friend of mine who had bought 2 at his local argos after seeing mine, went back to argos today to get 2 more for his brother and nephew, he had no joy though as they had sold out, he has got to wait while they transfer some from another store, The sales assistant he spoke to said that they must suddenly be popular, as the stock they had had for ages, has disapeared in the last week
I have had no problems packing them in my car, I put them in first in the boot, and because they are a flat square when folded they are easy to pack other equipment on top of them, you can even stand them up when folded and pack them at the side of the boot.
Hi can you tell me if you get the condensation ( damp sleeping bags) with these mats as they are made with UPVC as you do with the Air beds.
We just had another weekend away with wet airbeds + sleeping bags even with mat underneath and blanket on top.
Thanks
No, never had a problem with damp or condensation when using them, They are very warm when sleeping on them because of the soft foam inside them, They are the best bit of camping kit i have bought for years, even the wife loves using them as she used to find it difficult sleeping sometimes when camping, not now though
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
